Book Now - Fossil Hunters Kids Tour (Ages 5-12)

Little adventurers get kitted with caving helmets and real head lamps, before braving the underground reaches of the Lucas Cave, in this interactive treasure-hunt experience. Once below ground, our friendly guides will have them learning about fossils and all things caves, through hands-on experiments and treasure hunting, before leaving with a little something to take home!

All guides hold a Working with Children Check, so Mum or Dad can either join in, or simply relax at the café, for some kid-free time, knowing their little ones will be in safe hands.

Children should wears shoes with a sturdy sole. We supply helmets and head torches for kids to wear during the tour.

The tour activities are designed for primary school aged kids - Kindergarten to Year 6.

One parent can tag along free of charge, but if you would like to do something else for 1.5 hours, you must sign your child in at the start of the tour and then out at the end. Your child will be in very safe hands.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour start time for the signing in process.

Dress Code

This is an all weather activity.
Wear comfortable, non-slip walking shoes. 'Flip-flops' are unsuitable.

Other Information

At least one parent or guardian per booking is to accompany the tour but are Free of Charge.

All children should:
- Use the public toilets, before joining the cave tour, as there are no toilets inside any of our caves.
- Listen carefully to their tour guide, and obey all instructions.
- Stay with their group.
- Do not eat or drink. They may take water with them.
- Do not litter.

TRAFFIC CONTROL DELAYS - ARRIVE WITH ESCORT VEHICLE:
Edith Road is the only access to Jenolan. On Edith Road, 3 kms before Jenolan, at the top of the steep valley descent, STOP AT THE BARRIER. The descent is now one-way, so Transport for NSW will escort your vehicle 3km down to our carparks. From there follow the pathways down to the Hotel and shelter to meet for your tour. Escort vehicles run at regular intervals

To be on time for your tour, please arrive at the barrier (3km from the caves) *** at least 1 HOUR BEFORE YOUR FIRST BOOKED ACTIVITY.***

LEAVE WITH ESCORT VEHICLE:
Escort vehicles leave our car park regularly to accompany vehicles back up the hill.

Note: If you travel via Katoomba, you must get to Edith road via a 30-MINUTE DETOUR ON JENOLAN CAVES ROAD. (See our ‘Getting Here’ webpage.) To arrive at Jenolan safely, give yourself a couple of hours extra travel time. If you arrive too early, take advantage of our bushwalks, café and giftshop.
