This is a genuine ‘white knuckle’ underground adventure - perfect for first-time cavers. As part of a small group, two highly experienced cavers guide you every step of the way, as you abseil, squeeze, crawl and climb through an undeveloped cave, in overalls and helmet, with only a headlamp to light your way. As your confidence grows, the squeezes get longer. Look carefully, and you'll see some fine crystal, but this tour is not about cave decorations. It is an adventure experience!
Move on through the 'Crystal Chamber' and take time for a breather in 'The Chapel'. The 'Armchair Squeeze' leads you into the fun of the 'Rockpile', then the aptly named 'Letterbox Squeeze'. This adventure is called 'The Plughole' for good reason. The 'S-Bend' is the way out of the cave! You get dirty, but as you face each challenge, you gain self-assurance and emerge with a special exhilaration and a brand new swagger.

This is an all weather activity.
WHAT IS PROVIDED?
All equipment, lights and protective clothing.
WHAT TO BRING?
Comfortable clothing that can get dirty and which are suitable for wearing underneath overall. You also must wear non-slip athletic shoes such as sneakers/joggers or bushwalking boots. It is optional for you to supply soft, flexible knee pads. Bring essentials only.

Fitness: this is a strenuous activity, requiring some flexibility and agility
If you are driving from a Sydney direction, the route has changed. Leave plenty of time to travel to Jenolan Caves, and always check www.livetraffic.com before you travel. You must arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of your first booked activity. TRAFFIC CONTROL DELAYS - ARRIVE WITH ESCORT VEHICLE.
Edith Road is the only access to Jenolan. On Edith Road, 3 kms before Jenolan, at the top of the steep valley descent, STOP AT THE BARRIER. The descent is now one-way, so Transport for NSW will escort your vehicle 3km down to our carparks. From there you can follow the pathways to the Hotel and the shelter to meet for your tour. Escort vehicles run at regular intervals.
To be on time for your tour, please arrive at the barrier (3km from the caves) *** AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE YOUR FIRST BOOKED ACTIVITY.***
LEAVE WITH ESCORT VEHICLE:
Escort vehicles leave our car park regularly to accompany vehicles back up the hill.
Note: If you travel via Katoomba, you must get to Edith road via a 30-MINUTE DETOUR ON JENOLAN CAVES ROAD. (See our ‘Getting Here’ webpage.) To arrive at Jenolan safely, give yourself a couple of hours extra travel time. If you arrive too early, take advantage of our bushwalks, café and giftshop.
